The utterly crazy, way too long Ikea trip

On Wednesdays I have an assistant to help me out with things. This week we went to Ikea. We were out for hours! Mainly because I had to walk really slowly.

I was just going to buy some pots and plants, but decided to walk the whole store. That was a mistake. Not only because the pots and plants are at the end of the store and I picked up at least 10 other items on the way, but because the concrete floor is horrible for my lower back, hips and legs. I just dawned on me when we were almost home, and my body was screaming, that I might have been able to borrow a wheelchair.

When we reached the pots and plants I decided to get only pots (and all the other stuff I picked up on the way). My assistant will help me put them up in cat-safe spaces next week so maybe the plants will survive for a while. Unless I kill them myself, of course.

All in all it was a nice outing. We had lunch at Ikea, and looked at all the things we wish we could buy. We stopped by a big grocery store on the way home. By that time I could hardly walk, and was not able to get all the things I needed, though. I just wanted to go home and lay down in my bed. This morning I had trouble getting to the bathroom, which is literally 4 steps from my bed.

Next time we go to Ikea I’ll remember I’m not able to walk the whole store, and there’s no shame in that.
